The start of the week is here again and you will be gearing up for a new opportunity to be successful and productive in your life. The start of the week is always a great time to think about what we really want in life and where we would like to be in the future.
It can be a time where we decide what we want to do with our lives and who we really want to be in the end. You can be anything you want to be, as long as you put in the work and dedication to be it. Like Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi, yo could go abroad to study and then come home and be named royalty. Like Richard Branson you could start a technology company which ends up as one f the biggest in the world. If you put your mind to it, you can.
1. See yourself from the outside
Imagine that you are seeing yourself in the street. Look at yourself as if you are looking at a stranger and see everything about yourself for the first time. You will see things that you like which you thought you wanted to change, things you would like to change which you never realised, and you will be able to see the potential you have if you work for what you want.
2. Find the habit
There is always a habit associated with what you would like to change in your life, for example you could find that the habit you need for losing weight is to exercise 3 times a week. By making this a ha it in your life and blocking out time in your schedule for this, it will become second nature and simply slip into your normal daily routine. Work to find that habit and try and make it a part of your life.
3. Practice every day
If you want to change who you are or become better at something, you need to practice. Let’s say you want to learn how to play the piano. Give yourself 30 minutes each day to sit in front of the piano and learn a few new chords or a line in a song. By practicing each day your mind will get used to the information and it will eventually become lodged in your brain.
4. Set realistic goals
It is crucial if you want to achieve more in life that you set goal which you can achieve. They need to be ones which you have to work for, but in general you need to make sure that they aren’t too ridiculous. For example you could say that you want to lose 1 stone in a week. That’s not going to happen, and when you fail you will just want to give in and eat some more chocolate. Think about what things you can realistically obtain, and when you do reach that goal give yourself a reward and set another one. Make a few small goals towards your end goal and this will help you a lot.
5. Look in the mirror
It is important that you take time every day to really look at yourself. It is the chance to reflect on who you are and whether or not you are on your way to achieving your goals. Take that time each day to look at yourself and decide what needs to be changed but also acknowledge what has.
6. Surround yourself with honest people
You have all likely heard of the phrase ‘surround yourself with positivity’ and while this is true, it is also important sometimes that you get the kick up the backside you need to make a change and go for your goals. By having family and friends who are honest, you will be more motivated to make a change in your life for the better. These people will also be the ones who can set you deadlines and hold you to your goals. Don’t think about skipping the gym or class because your friends will be there to drag you back in. You could even work on changes together, if you both want to follow the same career path you can set each other goals and spur each other on.
7. You have to take risks
You will never be able to become the person you want to be if you don’t take a risk or two now and then. By risks we mean stepping outside your comfort zone and not being afraid to try new things even if they seem terrifying. You need to be able to be brave and jump into life with an open mind in order to find your true purpose. You might find that it is something you never even realised, but you will never find out if you don’t try. You might even have to quit your job in order to find your passion and start your own business. This can be scary and daunting but it might be that kick up the bum you need to get going and do what you feel is right for you in life.
8. Be your own motivation
You are the only person who can control your life, and because of this you are the one who needs to step up to the plate and motivate yourself to achieve your dreams. If you have away dreamed of owning your business, you are the only one who can make these dreams happen. Other people can be there to cheer you on and offer advice, but the only person who can make that change is you. Take some time to learn the skills you need to make your dream come true, spend every night working at it and making sure that you succeed. It is crucial that you work hard and stay dedicated to your own wishes if you want to succeed. Remember that you are strong enough to do anything if you put your mind to it and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
