Do We Still Love Thy Neighbor Like We Should?

Who do you want to be in life? Do you want to be the kind of person that cares about others, that spreads their positivity and kindness, and that really improves this world? Or do you want to be selfish and thoughtless, and only ever focus on your own gains while ignoring the needs of others? These seem like two very different notions, and of course, we all want to be able to choose the first, but can we all honestly say that we are that person? Most of the time, we’ll fall somewhere in the middle. But all too often, we are actually the latter. We don’t always think of others, and we’re not always responsible people, and it’s sad. So how can we actually change that?

Caring Neighbors

Let’s kick this off by talking about our actual neighbors. Years before, we would know our neighbors well. We would take time to speak them, we would enjoy time with them, and we’d be kind and thoughtful. But now? Now how do we act? Well, ask yourself – do you know your neighbors at all? Do you ever stop and speak to them? If not, then you’re more of a ghost in your building or neighborhood. It’s just too easy to have the blinkers on and get on with our days and not make time for others, and it’s a shame.

Responsible Road Users

One of the biggest areas that you’re going to want to think about aside from your actual neighbors, is the people that you pass and share the road with. Because it’s all too easy to become an irresponsible driver and think that your actions don’t affect others. When really, they always will. At the same time, you can’t just assume that you’re always going to be a safe road user, because others can be the risk. So you really have to make the conscious decision to be a responsible road user.

Respectful Citizens

From here, you’re then going to want to think about your actions when you’re out in public. Because it’s important to always be a respectful citizen. Be kind to others, help them, take care to not cause accidents. While you can find an injury attorney when you’ve been wronged to seek justice, wouldn’t it be great if you could avoid the accident altogether? By being respectful yourself, you know that you are doing all you can.

Kind Co-Workers

Then, you’ve also got the working situation and social aspects of being around others. You spend a lot of your time at work, so don’t you want to make sure that it’s a great place to be. At work, you have the power to make some great friends and really work together to create something special for your customers or the business you work for. But to do that, you have to be a good co-worker. So think before you speak, be kind, care for others, and treat your colleagues how you would like to be treated.
