Climate change has been a big worry for many years. Not too long ago, the world was shocked when scientists revealed how badly climate change could affect the earth. As the world gets warmer, it has dire consequences on the lives of future people. The high heat levels will cause polar ice caps to melt, which can raise sea levels and lead to flooding. Plus, it can dry out rainforest’s and rid the earth of some precious greenery.
All of this is the result of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere. There was a time when this topic never left the news. No matter what outlet you tuned into, it would be covering climate change and global warming. However, these days, it’s not receiving the coverage that it deserves. Granted, there will be stories that occur and demand immediate attention and full coverage. But, I feel like climate change needs to be something that’s regularly discussed in the news, so people don’t forget about it. If it stays in the public eye, then more and more people will actively make changes to their lifestyle to help prevent it. The constant media coverage would also put pressure on world leaders to implement policies and make changes in their country. And, that’s what this article is going to focus on today. By diving into the world of climate change, we can see what’s being done to prevent it. I took a look at two key ways in which countries are trying to stop global warming, and save our environment.

Renewable Energy Sources
One of the main ways that countries are fighting climate change is through renewable energy sources. You have governments all over the world trying to find the best energy sources for their country. Naturally, some are doing more than others. It may come as a surprise, but Chile is one of the world leaders in renewable energy. Since 2014, they’ve become one of the top renewable energy markets in the world. And, Chile’s renewable energy conference for 2016 is just a couple of months away too. So, it will be interesting to see what other developments they put forward. Another country that springs to mind is France. They’re currently hosting Euro 2016 and have made headlines for their eco-efficient stadiums. One of them generates three times its own energy thanks to solar panels. It’s genius ideas like this that help reduce carbon emissions and prevent climate change. As technology progresses, it should be easier to develop renewable energy sources.
Managing waste is another key way countries are trying to stop climate change. In the last few years, we’ve seen great strides in the recycling industry. It’s become more advanced and convenient for everyone. No longer do you have to separate things, a lot can be recycled all at the same time. The top recycling country in the world is currently Switzerland. Over 50% of Swiss waste is recycled, which is a huge amount!
These two things are vital to helping prevent climate change. And, they’re things that everyone in the world can do. If you start to recycle and use renewable energy, then we can help keep the earth in a good condition for a longer time.
